and welcome to Aldersgate’s guest web page. The fact that
you are reading this page tells me you must be checking us out.
Well good for you! It’s a smart idea. There are plenty
of church opportunities around town and finding the right one is
important. Though many may present Jesus and his ministry,
finding one that works for you can be difficult.
Let
me tell you a little about Aldersgate. I think I’ll start by
telling you what we aren’t. We are not the perfect church!
We tried that but couldn’t hold up under the pressure. We
are not the biggest church – some places worship a ton more folks
than we do. We’re not the richest church – we have too
many Chevrolets in our parking lot to qualify for that. On the
other hand, we’re not the poorest church either – we’re
typical Northshore type people that are relatively blessed.
So
who are we? Well, we’re generally friendly and fairly
relaxed. The largest part of our crowd leans toward
contemporary worship in most ways but we have a very faithful
“traditional” contingent as well. Someone once told me we
have a “relaxed fit” style. I think that’s accurate.
Theologically, as Methodist churches go, the pastoral staff leans a
little to the right, not terribly so but in that direction.
Our mission statement is simple: To know Jesus and to make Him
known. It is a challenge but worth doing and calls us as
a church to seek God’s direction for each member’s call to
ministry.
As
you will see from moving around in the site, we have many activities
and programs. I want to extend an invitation to you to feel
free to try whatever interests you. Take a sample and if it
works – wonderful. If it doesn’t work – give us a call,
I’d like to know what didn’t click for you. I could tell
you that we have an OUTSTANDING CHILDREN’S PROGRAM, A MARVELOUS
MUSIC MINISTRY, WONDERFUL WORSHIP EXPERIENCES, A VITAL YOUTH
OUTREACH AND SO ON, but we preachers always say that, don’t we?
You be the judge of that (I’m pretty sure we’re biased!).
Though I think we do have a lot to offer anyone, you check it out
for yourself. If we can be of any help along the way, please,
